Project MMRS, Lalu Nepal

In the extremely remote, rural, and impoverished village of Lalu Nepal, exists a school known as Modern Model Residential School (MMRS). This school provides education to poor, disadvantaged, and orphaned children. This project was started by Mr. Prakash Bista and we have been working with him since 2019.

WHY MMRS

MMRS is a story of kindness, resilience, and unwavering support of Prakash Bista, his wife Shomi, and villagers who have helped build the school. While searching for a noble cause where we could donate our skills and time, I was introduced to Prakash. His dedication, commitment, and his determination to overcome his own personal losses and focus on giving the children of his village a chance for a better future, touched our hearts deeply. According to Prakash, the villagers sold their land and cattle, and took loans to build a school. Through personal sacrifices and unyielding trust that they will somehow be helped, a school was established, but basic health care remains DESPERATELY lacking. The school is in the village of Lalu, in Kalikot district of Nepal.

LALU

Lalu is a remote village accessed by either hiking 5 to 6 hours or taking a recently created dirt road. Because of this remoteness the village is lacking access to infrastructure such as, safe roads, running water, electricity, and basic health care. The nearest District Hospital is about a 6-hour walk away. Education is one of the best ways for these children to improve their circumstances and become self-sufficient. But due to the lack of preventative health care, many school days are missed. The school, which is mostly supported through donations, does not have the funds to meet this need and this is where your donation will make the biggest difference!

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Your contributions will help meet the necessary health care needs of these children.

Desperately needed items
Funds raised will be used for purchasing basic health care preventative items. By basic, we mean items such as:
band aids, dressing supplies, disinfectant for wounds, fever reducers, pain relievers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soaps, anti-diarrhea medication, meds for nausea and vomiting, vitamins, sanitary napkins and dispenser machine. Many young girls miss several days of school due to the unavailability of sanitary pads. Money will also be used for education materials and to train the staff members, so continuation of basic preventive health care is maintained after we leave.

We will be going to Lalu in September of this year, 2024. All the supplies will be bought in Nepal and delivered to the village by us with help of Prakash and Shomi. Thanks to all the support for our trip in 2019, an area in the school has been set up to function as a simple clinic. Education materials and classes on first aid, hygiene, and disease prevention will be provided. And to accomplish this, we need your help!

Your compassionate contribution will help bring healing and promote education for the children of MMRS. On behalf of the children, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
